		<description>I read your post and I have to agree wholeheartedly.  I think that when the average American thinks about malpractice reform, the thought is that a doctor who is incompetent won&#039;t have to pay out the money needed to compensate a patient who was a victim of an avoidable occurrence.  However, the reality is that the majority of healthcare providers have chosen the field because of the passion/drive they have to treat patients, heal patients, save lives, and make a difference.  Those individuals are having to pay a hefty price because of the negligibility of a minority.

I&#039;m a healthcare administration student and I was amazed to find out how the costs of malpractice insurance has effected our healthcare system today.  To not consider it as we move forward to healthcare reform is a mistake.  There are numerous intricate pieces to healthcare and the issues surrounding it.  It is amazing to me that a discussion can take place about ordering too many labs, x-rays, or other tests and no one in government has mentioned why this occurs.  This is a big one, and I hope that the physicians who went from NC help to make a difference in how our government views this area.
