Your Fall Prescription: Get Your Flu Shot!

With this morning’s chilly temperatures, it’s difficult to deny that fall is on the way (and winter will be right behind).

Make sure you (and your family) are protected this flu season!  The CDC recommends a flu shot for everyone 6 months of age and older (unless there are contraindications).  View the recommendations here.

The flu shot is one way to help you stay healthy, but there are other things you can do.  Check the WakeMed website here for ways to avoid illness this fall and winter. Also, see the CDC’s chart below for information on how to tell if it’s a cold or the flu, and check out our blog post for tips on what to do if you get sick.

Nearly all insurance plans cover flu shots, but there may be copays in some cases.  If you’re not sure what’s covered, call your health insurance provider.
